Visual Brand Design Workshop: "İzmir 2015: EXPOse yourself to life" by Stefano Cardini From Domus Academy
Domus Academy, as a world-renowned design academy was founded in 1983 in Milan and is one of the pioneer design academies in the institutionalization of design discipline in Italy as well as in the world. Domus Academy provides training only in the graduate level and The Visual Brand Design Master Program mostly concentrates on visual design/multimedia techniques, branding issues.
The workshop that is organized by the Head of Visual Communication Design Department Asst. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Arda, focuses on a subject closely related to the İzmir and its visual identity. İzmir as one of the cities that competed for hosting the EXPO 2015, came second after Milan in the competition. However, this result is not an obstacle for designers who would like to develop ideas on İzmir’s visual identity and branding. İzmir would not be hosting EXPO 2015 but is EXPO a goal or a means for the competing cities? At first sight, the result can be seen as something negative but can we turn into a positive recovery for the city using visual design tools? How can new ideas on city branding and visual identity give a positive direction to the recognition of İzmir in the international arena?
The workshop which will be held from 26 to 28 November 2014, will try to discuss and develop new visual ideas responses to these questions raised.
